Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निगृह्य सागरं तस्मिन् सेतुं बद्धा प्लवङ्गमैः ।
वृतोऽतरत्तं यद्रामः पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९५-२०॥
nigṛhya sāgaraṃ tasmin setuṃ baddhā plavaṅgamaiḥ |
vṛto'tarattaṃ yadrāmaḥ paryāptaṃ tannidarśanam ॥6-95-20॥
Translation
Having subdued the ocean and built a bridge over it with the help of monkeys, Shri Rama crossed it with His forces; that example itself was sufficient.
हिंदी अनुवाद
समुद्र को वश में करके उस पर वानरों के द्वारा पुल बांधकर, श्री राम अपनी सेना सहित उसे पार कर आए; यह उदाहरण ही पर्याप्त था।
English Commentary
The construction of the bridge ('Setu') over the ocean was both a human and divine miracle. Ravana believed the sea was his ultimate defense, but Shri Rama made the impossible possible. Subduing the ocean confirms His divinity. The Rakshasa women now realize that even geographical boundaries cannot hinder Shri Rama's justice.
हिंदी टीका
समुद्र पर सेतु का निर्माण एक मानवीय और दैवीय चमत्कार था। रावण को विश्वास था कि समुद्र उसकी सबसे बड़ी सुरक्षा है, किन्तु श्री राम ने उस असंभव को संभव कर दिया। 'निगृह्य सागरम्' (सागर को वश में करना) उनके ईश्वरत्व को पुष्ट करता है। राक्षसियाँ अब जान चुकी हैं कि भौगोलिक सीमाएँ भी श्री राम को नहीं रोक सकतीं।
