कुम्भकर्णं हतं श्रुत्वा राघवेण महाबलम् ।
अतिकायं च दुर्धर्षं लक्ष्मणेन हतं पुनः ॥६-९५-२३॥
kumbhakarṇaṃ hataṃ śrutvā rāghavēṇa mahābalam |
atikāyaṃ ca durdharṣaṃ lakṣmaṇēna hataṃ punaḥ ॥6-95-23॥
Translation
Having heard of the slaying of the mighty Kumbhakarna by Shri Rama and the death of the invincible Atikaya at the hands of Lakshmana—

श्री रघुनाथ जी के द्वारा महाबली कुम्भकर्ण के वध और लक्ष्मण जी के द्वारा अजेय अतिकाय के मारे जाने का समाचार सुनकर—
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna and Atikaya were the strongest pillars of Lanka's military. Kumbhakarna's brute force and Atikaya's mastery of weapons were perceived as guarantees of safety. Their deaths prove that no demonic strength can withstand the combined might of Shri Rama and Shri Lakshmana. The lamentation of the women now reflects an existential crisis for their entire race.

कुम्भकर्ण और अतिकाय लंका की सैन्य शक्ति के दो सबसे मजबूत स्तंभ थे। कुम्भकर्ण का बल और अतिकाय की अस्त्र-विद्या राक्षसों के लिए सुरक्षा की गारंटी थी। इन दोनों का अंत यह सिद्ध करता है कि श्री राम और श्री लक्ष्मण की संयुक्त शक्ति के सामने कोई भी दानवीय बल नहीं टिक सकता। राक्षसियों का यह विलाप अब उनके पूर्ण अस्तित्व के संकट की ओर बढ़ रहा है।
