हन्ति नो रामरूपेण यदि वा स्वयमन्तकः ।
हतप्रवीरा रामेण निराशा जीविते वयम् ॥६-९५-२७॥
hanti no rāmarūpeṇa yadi vā svayamantakaḥ |
hatapravīrā rāmeṇa nirāśā jīvite vayam ॥6-95-27॥
Translation
Or perhaps Death (Antaka) himself is slaying us in the form of Shri Rama. Our best warriors having been killed by Him, we are now hopeless regarding our own lives.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा स्वयं यमराज ही श्री राम के रूप में हमारा संहार कर रहे हैं। श्री राम द्वारा हमारे श्रेष्ठ वीरों के मारे जाने पर अब हम अपने जीवन के प्रति निराश हो चुकी हैं।
English Commentary
Calling Shri Rama 'Antaka' (Death) symbolizes the punishment for the Rakshasas' sins. When the perceived protectors fall, hopelessness is natural. The women have realized that no one in Lanka will survive. This verse portrays the direct fear of death and the infallible power of divine justice.

श्री राम को 'अन्तक' (यमराज) कहना राक्षसों के पापों के दंड का प्रतीक है। जब रक्षक ही रक्षक न रहे, तो निराशा (निराशाः) स्वाभाविक है। राक्षसियाँ समझ चुकी हैं कि अब लंका में कोई भी जीवित नहीं बचेगा। यह श्लोक मृत्यु के साक्षात् भय और ईश्वरीय न्याय की अमोघ शक्ति का चित्रण करता है।
