Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वृषध्वजस्त्रिपुरहा महादेवः प्रसादितः ।
प्रसन्नस्तु महादेवो देवानेतद्वचो ऽब्रवीत् ॥६-९५-३७॥
vṛṣadhvajastripurahā mahādevaḥ prasāditaḥ |
prasannastu mahādevo devānetadvaco 'bravīt ॥6-95-37॥
Translation
Propitiated Mahadeva, who has the bull on His banner and is the slayer of Tripura. Being pleased, Mahadeva spoke these words to the Gods.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वृषध्वज और त्रिपुरासुर का वध करने वाले महादेव को प्रसन्न किया। तब प्रसन्न होकर महादेव ने देवताओं से यह बात कही।
English Commentary
Lord Shiva (Mahadeva) enters the narrative here. Calling Him 'Tripuraha' (destroyer of the triple-city of demons) reinforces His role as the annihilator of evil. When both Brahma and Shiva support the Gods, the survival of the Rakshasas becomes impossible. Mahadeva's pleasure was the definitive sanction for Lanka's destruction.

यहाँ भगवान शिव (महादेव) का प्रसंग आता है। उन्हें 'त्रिपुरहा' (त्रिपुरासुर का नाश करने वाला) कहना उनके दुष्ट-दमनकारी स्वरूप को पुष्ट करता है। जब ब्रह्मा और शिव दोनों देवताओं के पक्ष में हों, तो राक्षसों का बचना असंभव था। महादेव का प्रसन्न होना लंका के अंतिम विनाश की स्वीकृति थी।
