Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सशरैरद्य वदनैः सङ्ख्ये वानरयूथपाः ।
मण्डयिष्यन्ति वसुधां सनालैरिव पङ्कजैः ॥६-९६-१६॥
saśarairadya vadanaiḥ saṅkhye vānarayūthapāḥ |
maṇḍayiṣyanti vasudhāṃ sanālairiva paṅkajaīḥ ॥6-96-16॥
Translation
Today in the battle, the monkey leaders with their faces pierced by arrows shall adorn the earth like lotuses lying on the ground with their stalks.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आज युद्ध में बाणों से बिंधे हुए मुखों वाले वानर यूथपति इस पृथ्वी को वैसे ही सजाएंगे, जैसे डंठल सहित कमल पृथ्वी पर पड़े हों।
English Commentary
This verse is filled with a gruesome and cruel imagination. Ravana views the slaughter as an 'adornment' ('Mandayishyanti') of the earth. Comparing the severed heads of the Vanaras to lotuses reflects his perverted psyche. He presents death as a celebration, illustrating the stage of unrighteousness where all human sensitivity is completely extinguished.

यह श्लोक अत्यंत वीभत्स और क्रूर कल्पना से भरा है। रावण संहार को 'सजावट' (मण्डयिष्यन्ति) के रूप में देख रहा है। वानरों के कटे सिरों की तुलना कमलों से करना उसकी विकृत मानसिकता का परिचायक है। वह मृत्यु को एक उत्सव की भाँति प्रस्तुत कर रहा है, जो अधर्म की उस सीमा को दर्शाता है जहाँ मानवीय संवेदनाएँ पूरी तरह समाप्त हो जाती हैं।
