अद्य युद्धप्रचण्डानां हरीणां द्रुमयोधिनाम् ।
मुक्तेनैकेषुणा युद्धे भेत्स्यामि च शतं शतम् ॥६-९६-१७॥
adya yuddhapracandāṇāṃ harīṇāṃ drumayodhinām |
muktenāikeṣuṇā yuddhe bhetsyāmi ca śataṃ śatam ॥6-96-17॥
Translation
Today, in the battle, I shall pierce hundreds of those fierce, tree-wielding monkeys with each single arrow that I release.

आज युद्ध में भयंकर प्रहार करने वाले और वृक्षों से लड़ने वाले उन वानरों को मैं अपने छोड़े गए एक-एक बाण से सौ-सौ की संख्या में भेद डालूँगा।
English Commentary
Ravana engages in hyperbolic self-praise regarding his weaponry. The claim of 'one arrow for a hundred' signifies his belief in his superhuman lethality. By referring to the Vanaras as 'tree-wielders,' he seeks to belittle their natural strength against his specialized arsenal. This reflects his extreme hubris and serves as a precursor to the ferocity of the impending clash.

रावण अपनी अस्त्र-शक्ति की अतिशयोक्तिपूर्ण प्रशंसा कर रहा है। 'एकेषुणा शतम्' (एक बाण से सौ) का दावा उसकी अमानवीय मारक क्षमता को सूचित करता है। वानरों को 'द्रुमयोधिनाम्' (वृक्षों से लड़ने वाले) कहकर वह उनके प्राकृतिक बल को अपने अस्त्र-बल के सामने तुच्छ सिद्ध करना चाहता है। यह उसके दम्भ और आगामी युद्ध की भीषणता का संकेत है।
