Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सन्दश्य दशनैरोष्ठं क्रोधसंरक्तलोचनः ।
राक्षसैरपि दुर्दर्शः कालाग्निरिव मूर्च्छितः ॥६-९६-३॥
sandaśya daśanairoṣṭhaṃ krodhasaṃraktalocanaḥ |
rākṣasairapi durdarśaḥ kālāgniriva mūrchitaḥ ॥6-96-3॥
Translation
Biting his lip with his teeth, with eyes reddened by fury, he looked as fearsome as the fire of dissolution (Kalagni), appearing difficult to behold even for other Rakshasas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
दाँतों से अपने होंठ चबाते हुए और क्रोध से लाल नेत्रों वाला वह रावण, अन्य राक्षसों के लिए भी अजेय और साक्षात् प्रलय की अग्नि (कालाग्नि) के समान भयंकर लग रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse describes the peak of Ravana's fury. The analogy to 'Kalagni' (the fire of cosmic dissolution) emphasizes that his rage was now purely destructive. Being 'difficult to behold' even for his own kin suggests that his persona had become entirely engulfed by darkness and Tamas, leaving no room for counsel or compassion.

यहाँ रावण के उग्र क्रोध की पराकाष्ठा है। 'कालाग्नि' की उपमा यह सिद्ध करती है कि उसका क्रोध अब सम्पूर्ण विनाश करने वाला था। अपने ही सेवकों के लिए 'दुर्दर्श' (जिसे देखा न जा सके) होना यह बताता है कि उसका व्यक्तित्व पूरी तरह से तामसिक हो चुका था। वह अब किसी की सलाह सुनने या दया करने की स्थिति में नहीं था।
