उवाच च समीपस्थान् राक्षसान् राक्षसेश्वरः ।
भयाव्यक्तकथस्तत्र निर्दहन्निव चक्षुषा ॥६-९६-४॥
uvāca ca samīpasthān rākṣasān rākṣaseśvaraḥ |
bhayāvyaktakathastatra nirdahanniva cakṣuṣā ॥6-96-4॥
Translation
The lord of Rakshasas, appearing to incinerate them with his very glance, spoke to the nearby Rakshasas whose speech was faltering due to fear.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसराज रावण ने अपने पास खड़े उन राक्षसों से, जो डर के कारण हकला रहे थे, अपनी दृष्टि से मानो उन्हें जलाते हुए यह कहा।
English Commentary
Ravana's intimidation of his own ministers illustrates the nature of his tyrannical rule. His gaze was so piercing that his closest aides faltered in speech. This represents a corrupted form of leadership based on terror rather than respect. He is now poised to deliver his final commands for the mobilization of Lanka's remaining power.
हिंदी टीका
रावण का अपने ही मन्त्रियों को डराना उसके निरंकुश शासन का परिचायक है। उसकी दृष्टि (चक्षुषा) में इतनी उग्रता थी कि सामने खड़े वीर भी बोलने में असमर्थ थे। यह नेतृत्व का वह विकृत रूप है जहाँ सम्मान के स्थान पर केवल भय शेष रह जाता है। रावण अब अपने अंतिम आदेश देने वाला है।
