ततः प्रयातः सहसा राक्षस्र्बहुभिर्वृतः ।
रावणः सत्त्वगाम्भीर्याद्दारयन्निव मेदिनीम् ॥६-९६-३५॥
tataḥ prayātaḥ sahasā rākṣasair bahubhir vṛtaḥ |
rāvaṇaḥ sattvagāmbhīryā d dārayanniva medinīm ॥6-96-35॥
Translation
Then Ravana, surrounded by many Rakshasas, suddenly set forth. Due to the weight of his power and gravity, he appeared to be splitting the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब अनेक राक्षसों से घिरा हुआ रावण अचानक (युद्ध के लिए) निकल पड़ा। अपनी गम्भीर शक्ति के कारण वह मानो पृथ्वी को फाड़ रहा था।
English Commentary
The phrase 'as if splitting the earth' depicts the overwhelming impact of Ravana's presence and the immense weight of his military host. 'Sattva-gambhiryat' points to a dark resolve that remained unshaken even on the path to ruin. This was Ravana's final great march; all of Lanka shuddered under the momentum of his departure.

'दारयन्निव मेदिनीम्' (पृथ्वी को फाड़ते हुए) शब्द रावण के प्रचंड प्रभाव और उसके विशाल सैन्य दल के भार को दर्शाते हैं। 'सत्त्वगाम्भीर्यात्' उसकी उस दृढ़ता को बताता है जो विनाश के मार्ग पर भी अडिग थी। यह रावण का अंतिम महा-प्रयाण था। सम्पूर्ण लंका उसके प्रस्थान के वेग से कांप उठी थी।
