ततः प्रजवनाश्वेन रथेन स महारथः ।
द्वारेण निर्ययौ तेन यत्र तौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥६-९६-३९॥
tataḥ prajavanāśvena rathena sa mahārathaḥ |
dvāreṇa niryayau tena yatra tau rāmalakṣmaṇau ॥6-96-39॥
Translation
Thereafter, mounted on a chariot with extremely swift horses, that great car-warrior (Ravana) emerged through the gate where Shri Rama and Lakshmana were stationed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, अत्यंत तीव्र घोड़ों वाले रथ पर सवार होकर वह महारथी (रावण) उसी द्वार से निकला, जहाँ श्री राम और लक्ष्मण स्थित थे।
English Commentary
Ravana deliberately chose the gate where Shri Rama and Shri Lakshmana were personally leading. The title 'Maharathah' acknowledges his seasoned martial status. This is the moment of direct confrontation—the King of Lanka against the Princes of Ayodhya. The 'swift horses' also symbolize the frantic pace at which he was hurtling toward the conclusion of his destiny.

रावण ने अपनी चुनौती के लिए उसी स्थान को चुना जहाँ श्री राम और श्री लक्ष्मण स्वयं मोर्चा संभाले हुए थे। 'महारथः' शब्द उसकी सामरिक निपुणता को स्वीकार करता है। यह सीधी भिड़ंत का क्षण है—लंका का राजा और अयोध्या के राजकुमार। 'प्रजवन-अश्व' उसकी उस हताशापूर्ण गति को भी दर्शाते हैं जो उसे उसके भाग्य के अंत तक ले जा रही थी।
