तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा राक्षसास्ते भयार्दिताः ।
चोदयामासुरव्यग्रान् राक्षसांस्तान् नृपाज्ञया ॥६-९६-६॥
tasya tadvacanaṃ śrutvā rākṣasāste bhayārditāḥ |
codayāmāsuravyagrān rākṣasāṃstān nṛpājñayā ॥6-96-6॥
Translation
Hearing those words of Ravana and trembling with fear, those Rakshasas, in accordance with the king's command, incited the other alert Rakshasas to prepare.

रावण के उन वचनों को सुनकर भय से त्रस्त उन राक्षसों ने राजा की आज्ञा से अन्य सावधान राक्षसों को युद्ध के लिए प्रेरित किया।
English Commentary
The generals themselves were terrified of Ravana's wrath. The word 'Bhayarditah' suggests that the army was now motivated by the fear of their king rather than martial zeal. Violating the king's decree meant certain death, forcing a rapid, frantic mobilization of the remaining demonic forces. It is the final display of discipline in a decaying empire.

सेनापति स्वयं रावण के क्रोध से भयभीत थे। 'भयार्दिताः' शब्द यह बताता है कि लंका की सेना अब उत्साह से नहीं, बल्कि प्राणों के डर से लड़ने जा रही थी। राजा की आज्ञा का उल्लंघन मृत्यु था, अतः वे बिना किसी देरी के पूरी सेना को युद्धोन्मुख करने में लग गए। यह एक पतनशील साम्राज्य के अंतिम अनुशासन का दृश्य है।
