Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते तु सर्वे तथेत्युक्त्वा राक्षसा घोरदर्शनाः ।
कृतस्वस्त्ययनाः सर्वे रणायाभिमुखा ययुः ॥६-९६-७॥
te tu sarve tathetyuktvā rākṣasā ghoradarśanāḥ |
kṛtasvastyayanāḥ sarve raṇāyābhimukhā yayuḥ ॥6-96-7॥
Translation
Saying 'So be it,' all those fearsome Rakshasas performed auspicious rites for success and marched toward the battlefield.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे सभी भयंकर दिखने वाले राक्षस 'जो आज्ञा' कहकर और मंगल-पाठ (स्वस्त्ययन) करके युद्ध की ओर चल दिए।
English Commentary
It is an irony that even those on the path of unrighteousness perform 'Svastyayanam' (auspicious rites) when facing death. Their attempt to seek blessings despite their sins reflects a desperate human (or demonic) instinct. The term 'Ghoradarshanah' confirms their terrifying physical power as they embark on what will be their final journey to face the brilliance of Shri Rama.

अधर्म के मार्ग पर चलने वाले भी मृत्यु के भय से 'स्वस्त्ययनम्' (कल्याण की कामना) करते हैं। यह एक विडम्बना है कि जो स्वयं अमंगल के प्रतीक हैं, वे मंगल की आशा कर रहे थे। 'घोरदर्शनाः' शब्द उनकी विकराल शक्ति को पुष्ट करता है। वे अब श्री राम के तेज का सामना करने के लिए अपने जीवन की अंतिम यात्रा पर थे।
