सुग्रीवे स शरान् घोरान् विससर्ज चमूमुखे ।
स्थापयामास चोद्विग्नान् राक्षसान् सम्प्रहर्षयन् ॥६-९७-१६॥
sugrīve sa śarān ghorān visasarja camūmukhe |
sthāpayāmāsa codvignān rākṣasān sampraharṣayan ॥6-97-16॥
Translation
He unleashed terrible arrows at Sugriva at the front of the army and, bringing joy to the agitated Rakshasas, established/steadied them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उसने सेना के मुहाने पर सुग्रीव के ऊपर भयानक बाण छोड़े और घबराए हुए (उद्विग्न) राक्षसों को हर्षित करते हुए स्थिर (खड़ा) किया।
English Commentary
Virupaksha displays dual leadership qualities: offensive capability by attacking Sugriva, and rallying power by stabilizing ('sthāpayāmāsa') his panic-stricken troops. His presence converted their anxiety ('udvignān') into cheer/hope, proving his value as a commander.
हिंदी टीका
एक कुशल सेनापति के दो कार्य होते हैं—शत्रु पर प्रहार और अपनी सेना को ढांढस बंधाना। विरूपाक्ष ने दोनों किया। सुग्रीव पर बाण छोड़े और भागती हुई राक्षस सेना को रोककर 'स्थापयामास' (स्थिर किया)। उसके आने से राक्षसों में पुनः हर्ष और आशा का संचार हुआ।
