ततो जग्राह तेजस्वी सुग्रीवो वसुधातलात् ।
आयसं मुसलं घोरं सर्वतो हेमभूषितम् ॥६-९८-२३॥
tato jagrāha tejasvī sugrīvo vasudhātalāt |
āyasaṃ musalaṃ ghoraṃ sarvato hemabhūṣitam ॥6-98-23॥
Translation
Then the energetic Sugriva picked up from the ground a terrible iron Musala (pestle/club) adorned with gold on all sides.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब तेजस्वी सुग्रीव ने पृथ्वी तल से एक भयानक, लोहे का बना और सब ओर से सोने से सजा हुआ मूसल उठा लिया।
English Commentary
Using weapons lying on the battlefield is part of martial skill. Sugriva picked up an 'ayasam musalam' (iron pestle). This likely belonged to another fallen warrior. Sugriva's readiness shows he knew how to seize the opportunity.
हिंदी टीका
रणभूमि में गिरे हुए हथियारों का उपयोग करना युद्ध कौशल का हिस्सा है। सुग्रीव ने एक 'आयसं मुसलं' (लोहे का मूसल) उठाया। यह संभवतः किसी अन्य मृत योद्धा का हथियार था। सुग्रीव की तत्परता दिखाती है कि वे अवसर का लाभ उठाना जानते थे।
