राक्षसश्चर्मणा सार्धं महावेगो महोदरः ।
तथैव च महाखड्गं चर्मणा पतितं सह ॥६-९८-२९॥
rākṣasaścarmaṇā sārdhaṃ mahāvego mahodaraḥ |
tathaiva ca mahākhaḍgaṃ carmaṇā patitaṃ saha ॥6-98-29॥
Translation
The very swift Rakshasa Mahodara picked it up along with a shield. Similarly, (Sugriva) also picked up a huge sword lying with a shield.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महावेगशाली राक्षस महोदर ने ढाल के साथ (तलवार उठाई)। वैसे ही (सुग्रीव ने भी) ढाल के साथ पड़ी हुई एक विशाल तलवार (उठा ली)।
English Commentary
Both equipped themselves with sword and shield (charma). The nature of combat shifted—from wrestling to swordsmanship. Picking up weapons simultaneously reflects their equal readiness and reflexes.
हिंदी टीका
दोनों ने तलवार और ढाल (चर्म) धारण कर ली। अब युद्ध का स्वरूप बदल गया—मल्लयुद्ध से खड्गयुद्ध (swordsmanship)। दोनों का एक साथ हथियार उठाना उनकी समान तत्परता और रिफ्लेक्स (reflexes) को दर्शाता है।
