जहार सशिरस्त्राणं कुण्डलोपहितं शिरः ।
निकृत्तशिरसस्तस्य पतितस्य महीतले ॥६-९८-३४॥
jahāra saśirastrāṇaṃ kuṇḍalopahitaṃ śiraḥ |
nikṛttaśirasastasya patitasya mahītale ॥6-98-34॥
Translation
...severed his head adorned with a helmet and earrings. With his head cut off, he (Mahodara) fell to the ground.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...उसका शिरस्त्राण (टोप) और कुण्डलों से युक्त सिर काट लिया। सिर कट जाने पर वह (महोदर) पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
Sugriva's strike was precise and final. The severing of the head 'kundalopahitam' (adorned with earrings) symbolizes the end of royal splendor. Mahodara met his end in the same violent manner he had inflicted upon the monkeys. This is the law of Karma.
हिंदी टीका
सुग्रीव का वार सटीक और अंतिम था। 'कुण्डलोपहितं' (कुण्डलों से सजा) सिर कटना, उस राजसी वैभव के अंत का प्रतीक है। महोदर का अंत ठीक उसी प्रकार हुआ जैसे उसने स्वयं वानरों के अंग काटे थे। यह कर्मफल का विधान है।
