अथ विजयमवाप्य वानरेन्द्रः समरमुखे सुरयक्षसिद्धसङ्घैः ।
अवनितलगतैश्च भूतसङ्घैर्हरुषसमाकुलितैः स्तुतो महात्मा ॥६-९८-३८॥
atha vijayamavāpya vānarendraḥ samaramukhe surayakṣasiddhasaṅghaiḥ |
avanitalagataischa bhūtasaṅghairharuṣasamākulitaiḥ stuto mahātmā ॥6-98-38॥
Translation
Thus, having obtained victory at the battlefront, the high-souled King of Monkeys (Sugriva) was praised by hosts of Suras, Yakshas, and Siddhas, and by the delighted beings on earth.

इस प्रकार युद्ध के मुहाने पर विजय प्राप्त करके, महात्मा वानरराज (सुग्रीव) की देवताओं, यक्षों, सिद्धों के समूहों और पृथ्वी पर स्थित हर्षित प्राणियों के समूहों द्वारा स्तुति की गई।
English Commentary
Victory in a righteous war is not merely personal; it is universal. Sugriva was praised not only by monkeys (beings on earth) but also by celestial Devas and Yakshas. The term 'mahatma' establishes the greatness of Sugriva's character, who risked his life for his friend's cause.

धर्मयुद्ध में विजय केवल व्यक्तिगत नहीं होती, वह सार्वभौमिक होती है। सुग्रीव की प्रशंसा न केवल वानरों ने (पृथ्वी के प्राणी), बल्कि आकाशचारी देवताओं और यक्षों ने भी की। 'महात्मा' शब्द सुग्रीव के चरित्र की महानता को स्थापित करता है, जिन्होंने मित्र के कार्य के लिए अपने प्राण संकट में डाले।
