महोदरे तु निहते महापार्श्वो महाबलः ।
सुग्रीवेण समीक्ष्याथ क्रोधात् संरक्तलोचनः ॥६-९९-१॥
mahodare tu nihate mahāpārśvo mahābalaḥ |
sugrīveṇa samīkṣyātha krodhāt saṃraktalocanaḥ ॥6-99-1॥
Translation
Upon seeing Mahodara killed by Sugriva, the mighty Mahaparshva became enraged, his eyes turning red with anger.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुग्रीव के द्वारा महोदर के मारे जाने पर, महाबली महापार्श्व ने उस (घटना) को देखा और क्रोध से उसकी आंखें लाल हो गईं।
English Commentary
The death of Mahodara was a significant blow to Ravana's army. Mahaparshva, another of Ravana's key commanders, instead of being dismayed by his colleague's fall, burned with the fire of vengeance. 'Samraktalochanah' (red eyes) signifies the boiling rage and battle frenzy within him. This is characteristic of the demonic nature—becoming more ferocious rather than fearful upon witnessing destruction.

महोदर की मृत्यु रावण की सेना के लिए एक बड़ा झटका थी। महापार्श्व, जो रावण का एक और प्रमुख सेनापति था, अपने साथी के पतन को देखकर विचलित होने के बजाय प्रतिशोध की ज्वाला में जल उठा। 'संरक्तलोचनः' (लाल नेत्र) उसके भीतर उबल रहे क्रोध और युद्ध के उन्माद को दर्शाता है। यह आसुरी प्रकृति का लक्षण है—विनाश देखकर भयभीत होने के बजाय और अधिक उग्र होना।
