Angada was a 'marmajnya'—he knew the vital spots where a strike ensures death. He targeted the Rakshasa's heart. The adjective 'pitustulyaparakramah' is crucial here; it reminds us that Angada is the son of Vali, who once held Ravana captive in his armpit.
